I started out with intent. Have fun with the underpainting, but keep going and push further. Be free and fearless. Get past the safe stages.
Throughout the creation of this painting I kept my end goal in mind – Fearless. I wrote down the word so I’d stay focused. I’ve seen other artists using a word for a year, or period of time. “Fearless” is about overcoming anxieties, having courage to move forward in different ways, allowing growth and change, and facing the vulnerability that may surface.
I painted huge letters spelling out FEARLESS. They exist in the background, but can’t be seen anymore. I kept going and my subconscious ended up here. The white shape is almost ingesting the black, or expelling it. A face-like entity swallowing darkness. Finally overpowering a beast, if you will. My subconscious guidance led me here.
