My wheel-thrown spoon rest dishes are 100% handmade and are functional ceramic pottery. Perfect for use as tabletop or stovetop spoon rest, coffee and tea bar, soap dish, trinket dish, and more. These raven bird dishes feature my own photograph, decal-fired onto the final glaze. The orange spoon rests have a ghostly raven image, barely discernible, while the olive brown has a distinct sepia raven and two small bats flying about. The galaxy black spoon rest doesn't have a raven, but is still perfect for Halloween decor and spooky season parties!
Once the clay is bone dry, I fire to bisque in my small home studio kiln. Bisque firing takes about 8+ hours. Once the bisque firing is complete, the final glaze is hand painted, allowed to dry, and then fired again in the final stage (another 8+ hours). These particular pieces have a third firing for the decal, another 8+ hours.
Expect slight perfect-imperfections, as each piece is 100% made by hand. Each piece embraces the imperfect handmade aspect, showing the artist's touch. Available pieces are listed. Caring for your piece:
» Dishwasher safe, however hand-washing is recommended. In order to prolong the glaze sheen and overall durability, I recommend hand-washing with a mild detergent, like Dawn.
» Microwave safe, but take care, as pottery can get hot.
» Do not place in oven or on stove top.
» Do not pour boiling water, as thermal shock could occur.
» The glaze is food safe, lead-free, and non-toxic.
» Ceramic pottery should be treated with care, as it can break, chip, or crack if dropped.
