I hand painted this hot, little squirrel from a photo taken in my yard. Texas summers are hot, and this little furry friend was feeling every bit of it!
Once the clay is bone dry, I fire to bisque in my small home studio kiln. Bisque firing takes about 8+ hours. After the first bisque fire, I hand painted with non-toxic underglaze and then bisque fired a second time, another 8+ hours. Once the 2nd bisque firing was complete, the final glossy glaze was hand painted, allowed to dry, and then fired again in the final stage (another 8+ hours).
This piece is 100% unique. The photo shows the actual piece you will receive.
The backside shows some minor indentions in the glaze. This is due to the kiln stilts the plate was sitting on when fired. The stilts keep the glaze from firing to the kiln shelf, but they do leave the little dot marks.
In order to prolong the durability, I recommend hand washing with mild detergent, like Dawn.
Dishwasher and microwave safe. Use caution, as microwaving can get hot.
The glaze is lead-free, non-toxic and food safe.
Do not pour boiling water as thermal shock could occur.
Do not place directly on stove burners, and keep away from the direct heat.
Ceramics should be handled with care, as they can break, chip, or crack if dropped.
